The training is designed to equip childcare providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to support and enhance fine motor development for handwriting.

Participants will learn what fine motor skills develop and when starting at infancy through preschool age.

You will leave the training with play ideas and toy suggestions that support later handwriting skills.

The training also gives you tips to support common skills like pencil grasp, cutting, how to support children with fine motor delays, which letters to teach how to write first, and FAQ’s like "Does writing on a tablet support handwriting?" will be answered.

Outcomes:

At the end of this training, you will be able to:

1. Identify fine motor milestones for the birth to 5 year old.

2. Identify fine motor activities for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

3. Identify strategies to promote pencil grasp and facilitate scissor skills.

Assessment: At the end of the training is a 10 question multiple choice quiz. You must pass with an 80% but don't worry, you get 3 opportunities to take and pass the quiz!
